The Ah-Ha Moment

One never knows what will trigger that moment of inspiration or reflection. Sometimes it is reading a particularly well written passage. Perhaps it is seeing a thought provoking interview or hearing a song lyric that grabs you. For me, this last week it was all three.

I read a blog from my friend Luke (http://allyourstarsareout.com/). He has been pretty profound lately. This last one spoke of meeting resistance. This could be either from outside of ourselves, such as rejection from agents or perhaps not having our work or craft taken seriously – or it can be from within: doubt, worry, writers block, all those insidious negatives that we have a tendency to push back against. But reacting that way strengthens the forcefield we are opposing. Our writing.. and everything else shuts down.

I saw an interview with Deepak Chopra and his son. They have written a book about the seven spiritual laws of a super hero. The trick, that super hero’s have learned, is to take the fear and the tragedy- whatever the shadow is.. and transform it. Resistance throws us out of balance. Our power comes from transcending the difficulty with compassion (for ourselves, too) and creativity.

The song I heard?

“Oh we can be heroes, just for one day….

We can be heroes

We can be heroes

We can be heroes

Just for one day.

May each of us find the hero within.
